Last year my daughter and I were shopping together. I tried on a sleeveless dress and rejected it when she liked it. As we dug deeper into our reasons I mentioned that it showed too much skin in front of my shoulder—pointing out a section of feminine flesh I was taught not to show. My daughter responded that she wouldn’t have any problem showing it and that she didn’t see why I should either. I realized that I had been trained to see that part of myself as unattractive and that my perception didn’t necessarily match that of other people. In the Tacos let’s fiesta Cinco de Mayo shirt moreover I will buy this past I’ve worn sleeveless shirts but have always been careful that the arm holes weren’t too big. I’ve been working on no longer being self-conscious about that part of m… Let me answer this as I also wear sleeveless tops often. First of all, I do acknowledge the fact that looking at women or staring at women’s body is a natural behavioural trait of males. This is how evolution has its effect on some innate traits of males and females. What I would say is that if you want to look at arms of a lady in sleeveless then it’s fine if you just take a glance. But staring at her for long time is extremely uncomfortable for women. Despite this, even if you cannot control yourself and still cannot stop staring at her body then at least make sure that you stare at her in such a way that she doesn’t notice that you are staring at her. This will at least make her feel relaxed. Hmmm, too funny – I was just pondering this same question the other day. 😁 Like, a fancy lacy blouse worn with a skirt, could the blouse legitimately be referred to as a top? And what if person is wearing layers, as in a tank covered with a cardigan, and a light jacket over the cardigan. If a courteuos passerby remarks, ”Hey, I love your top” – which layer do they mean? Hmmmm… this may take some more research or a clothing expert like Tim Gunn to sort out.
